How do I know I am addicted?
There are a number of definitions used to describe the concept of addiction. Experts often disagree on the matter. Cultural differences and ideologies from different countries play a role in this as well.
When the dependence on a certain substance no longer constitutes a personal choice, and when the craving (urge) for the substance is very strong and you no longer have control over your use of the substance, then you are addicted.
When someone drinks an average of 20 units of alcohol in a week, the alcohol use is referred to as problematic. The general standard used in the United States is 10 units.

Is the initial meeting free of charge?
Yes, the initial meeting is always free of charge. We believe that all our clients deserve the best possible treatment available. Money should not be a deciding factor in giving clients the opportunity to obtain objective advice.
During the initial meeting, we will aim to get more insight into the exact problem you are dealing with. We also provide the client with as much information about the treatment as possible. Both you and RoderSana must be convinced that the best treatment for your problem is available at RoderSana. If we do not believe that this is the case, then we will refer you to a facility where they may be able to assist you further.
Which types of addiction do you treat?
Any type of addiction apart from eating disorders.
Many of our clients suffer from malnutrition without this fact being recognised or acknowledged by themselves or by their closest family, relatives or friends. RoderSana incorporates healthy eating habits into its treatment programmes. Proper nutrition advances the recovery process and ensures that you are better equipped to face the challenges ahead.
Yneke Vocking, top expert in the field of nutrition and renowned from various television shows and publications, is Head of Nutrition at RoderSana. Our treatment programmes and approach are not entirely suited to people with eating disorders.
What is detox treatment?
At the start of the treatment, there will still be some traces of the addictive substance present in the body of the addict. Because of the fact that these substances autonomously increase the craving (urge) for the substance, we attempt to rid the body of these substances as quickly as possible. This detox process takes place under close supervision from a physician. If needed, prescription medication may be used to counteract the negative effects of the detox process as much as possible.
Do I really need to stay for seven weeks?
Scientific research has shown that admission to a treatment clinic for seven weeks is ideal and produces the highest chances of recovery. However, some clients only require a brief stay or wish to reduce the length of their stay because of their job position, the timing or any other reason. All this is possible. The entire treatment is tailored to the individual needs of the client. If you are unable to stay at the RoderSana Resort for an extended period of time, then we will look into other options with you.
Is the treatment covered by health insurance?
RoderSana has entered into an agreement with nearly all health insurance providers. Achmea is the only health insurance provider who decided not to sign an agreement with RoderSana, on grounds of internal cutbacks. RoderSana regrets the fact that a health insurance provider such as Achmea is not willing to provide the best possible care for their clients. One would think that their customers pay a high enough premium. However, health insurance provider AGIS (subsidiary of Achmea) did sign an agreement with RoderSana. We endeavour to enter into a health insurance agreement with Achmea in the near future. All other insurance providers are impressed by the quality and efficiency of the RoderSana treatment programmes and are prepared to cover the expenses of the treatment for the same maximum amount paid to regular care facilities.
We ask our clients to pay a personal contribution of EUR 195 per day for expenses incurred for additional services that are not covered under regular addiction insurance. This amount will not be covered by the health insurance provider. However, many employers are prepared to reimburse (part of) this personal contribution.
Is it true that you provide aftercare for up to two years?
Scientific research demonstrates that it takes two years before one can adequately assess whether the addiction is under control. Depending on each individual, the client may require more or less than two years of aftercare.
Another possibility is that the client relapses after many years of abstinence. In that case, they can rely on immediate assistance from RoderSana.
Aftercare is an essential part of the treatment. The treatment programme takes into account that in the client’s day-to-day living environment, there are so many stimuli that might cause the client to start using the substance again and/or to relapse into addiction, which makes aftercare absolutely necessary. If a relapse occurs, our treating physicians will be available for the client at once. As the client progresses towards recovery, aftercare will be provided at less regular intervals over time. Aftercare can take place face-to-face, via telephone, videophone, webcam, the internet, SMS, twitter, etc.
